The Teachers' Desk

As a former teacher in the Lebanon and Belton areas for 11 years, I have a passion for our students and believe they deserve the best education possible. I know that teaching is not an easy task and I am thankful for the many dedicated professionals across Missouri’s Fourth District who sacrifice daily to educate our precious future generation.

That is why I would like to share a great teaching tool and resource with teachers across Missouri's Fourth District through The Library of Congress.

On the Library's teachers' webpage, you will find around 150 million items for you to incorporate into your lesson plans- things like maps, manuscripts, audio recordings, pictures, books and more. The vast majority of these resources are ready for your convenience at no cost and without hassle. More than 80 full lesson plans are also available.

With primary resources, the Library of Congress' educational supplements can make the classroom come alive with history. Several of the resouces include materials from those directly involved in the history, providing first-person accounts of past events. These have the power to take your lesson plans and leap beyond the typical textbook-oriented classroom setting.

I encourage all educators to check this website. For more information and materials, please see the links below. Also, it will be worth your time to look through the Student Center webpage for more age-appropriate educational games and materials for kids.
