About David

Congressman David Schweikert was raised in Arizona and has deep ties to Arizona’s 6^th District, which encompasses the northern Phoenix metropolitan area including the cities of Phoenix, Scottsdale, and portions of Cave Creek and Carefree.

David is a leading proponent of reigning in government spending, eliminating the deficit, reforming the tax code, and reducing the size of government.   He is a long-time advocate for free enterprise, economic growth, and veterans.  David is recognized as a fiscal conservative and detail-oriented “numbers guy,” with a background in statistics and actuarial studies.

As a Member of Congress, David draws on his experience as a businessman, civil servant, and taxpayer advocate to break-down the numbers and show the economic reality of our nation’s mounting debt.  He has offered proposals to reduce and restructure entitlements to preserve the economic well being of future generations.

Among his legislative achievements, David helped block the largest tax increase in U.S. history in 2010.  He authored key portions of the Jumpstart Our Business Startups Act (JOBS Act), which passed with bipartisan support in 2012 and was subsequently signed by the President.  This piece of legislation reversed decades of regulatory burden, opening new capital markets to America’s entrepreneurs. In addition to his subcommittee chairmanship on the House Space, Science and Technology subcommittee on Environment, David is a member of the House Committee on Small Business, co-chairman of the House Tunisian Caucus,  the House Access to Credit Caucus,  the Valley Fever Task Force and serves on the House Down Syndrome Caucus and Maker's Caucus, which focuses on the policy impacts of 3-D printing technology.
