This bill enacts a long-term ‘doc fix’ by repealing the Sustainable Growth Rate (SGR) under Medicare, preventing a damaging 24 percent cut in Medicare reimbursements to physicians on April 1, 2014.
Washington, DC – March 11, 2014 – Representative Bradley Byrne (AL-1) has become an original cosponsor of H.R. 4158, the SIGMA Act (Special Inspector General for Monitoring the Affordable Care Act). This legislation would create an independent watchdog tasked with reporting to Congress within 120 days of appointment, and quarterly thereafter. The Special Inspector General would be granted subpoena and audit powers on the same level as existing Inspectors General, and would be responsible for examining all aspects of the healthcare law.
