Byrne Receives ‘Champion of Healthcare Innovation’ Award

Washington, DC – March 26, 2014 – Today, Representative Bradley Byrne (AL-1) was recognized by the Healthcare Leadership Council as a ‘Champion of Healthcare Innovation.’ This award is granted annually by the Council and recognizes Members of Congress for supporting policies that foster further achievements in the field of medical research and innovation.

Congressman Byrne receives the ‘Champion of Healthcare Innovation’ Award from Healthcare Leadership Council President Mary R. Grealy.

Byrne said: “I am honored to receive the ‘Champion of Healthcare Innovation’ Award from the Healthcare Leadership Council. This is a critical industry as we seek to continue the United States’ position of dominance on the world stage as a beacon of progress and innovation in the medical research field.

“These policies directly affect jobs and research in our district. Medical facilities at the University of South Alabama, for one, are an important part of our community. Just last week, the University announced exciting new developments in early detection of pancreatic cancer, one of the deadliest forms of this disease. Southwest Alabama continues to be on the cutting edge of medical research, and I am proud to support policies that will promote further breakthroughs in this field right here at home.”
