Meet Lois Frankel

Representative Lois Frankel is an experienced public servant with a strong record of bringing jobs and opportunity to South Florida. After serving 14 years in the Florida state legislature, including as the first woman Democratic minority leader, Lois became mayor of West Palm Beach in 2003. Lois was elected November 6, 2012 to represent Florida's 22nd Congressional District, which stretches from Riviera Beach in Palm Beach County to Ft. Lauderdale and Plantation in Broward County. She is the first woman to represent Florida’s 22nd congressional district. Lois serves on the Transportation and Infrastructure and Foreign Affairs committees. On the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, Lois sits on the Highways and Transit, Water Resources and the Environment, and the Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation subcommittees. On the Foreign Affairs committee, she is on the Middle East and North Africa subcommittee.

Lois is a results-oriented leader who has always been on the side of South Floridians, dating to her work as an attorney in Palm Beach County. In eight years as mayor, she worked tirelessly to bring jobs and opportunity to West Palm Beach while balancing the budget. Even during challenging economic times, Lois led the effort to expand the marine industry and oversaw the remarkable revitalization of the downtown district and made West Palm Beach a more attractive place for companies to do business. As a result, thousands of new residents and scores of new businesses started calling West Palm Beach home. Major projects underway because of her leadership are projected to bring thousands of new jobs to the area with a positive economic impact over the next decade.

As Congresswoman for Florida's 22nd District, Lois will continue her record as a champion for seniors, families, veterans and small businesses. She is committed to protecting Social Security and Medicare. She supports tax cuts for middle class families and small businesses. She believes it’s time to close loopholes for corporations that ship American jobs overseas and that we must create local jobs and reward companies bringing jobs to South Florida.

As a mother who watched her son, a proud Marine veteran, serve our country in Iraq and Afghanistan, Lois knows what it’s like for our military men and women and families to sacrifice. She will work tirelessly to make sure Congress’ priorities serve South Florida military men and women, veterans and families.
