The Obama administration has a history of hiding the truth and misleading the public. From missing hard drives at multiple agencies to empty promises about ObamaCare to keeping the American people in the dark about various immigration actions, deception and cover-ups seem to be standard operating procedure.

Who can forget the Obama administration’s attempts to blame the September 11, 2012, terrorist attack on Americans in Benghazi, Libya, on a spontaneous protest caused by a YouTube video?

It shouldn’t surprise anyone, then, that the Obama administration hid these four things from Americans until after the most recent election:

• Higher ObamaCare insurance rates. In 2013, ObamaCare’s open enrollment period began October 1st. This year, the Obama administration pushed the start date back to November 15th, 11 days after the election. That’s when Americans were finally told they will “face substantial price increases next year — in some cases as much as 20 percent,” according to The New York Times. Next year there are no federal elections, and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has proposed returning the start of open enrollment to – surprise! – October 1st.
• Government control of the Internet. Not even a week after the election results were in, President Obama announced his support for net neutrality – new regulatory authority the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is considering that would “destroy innovation and entrepreneurship,” as Speaker Boehner said. According to an analysis by the Progressive Policy Institute, “regulat[ing] broadband Internet service like a public utility would lead to a $17 billion tax hit for people in the United States.”
• Unilateral action on immigration. President Obama denied to NBC News’ Chuck Todd in early September that he was delaying his unilateral action until after the election because of politics, but White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest admitted that was not true just a few weeks later. After all, the president’s action was opposed by most Americans – a fact that hasn’t changed even after he announced it on November 20th, just two weeks after the election. It’s widely recognized that President Obama flip-flopped and did exactly what he repeatedly said he did not have the legal authority to do, and that his action sets the stage for another surge of illegal immigration at our southern border.
• The most expensive environmental regulation ever. It’s baaack. In late 2011, as the 2012 presidential campaign was getting started, President Obama forced the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to scrap its proposed swarm of red tape on power plants, factories, and other economic development. But now that his last midterm election is behind him, he’s reopened the regulatory floodgates, reviving a rule the National Association of Manufacturers calls “the most expensive regulation ever imposed.” Speaker Boehner said it “could slash family budgets by more than $1500 per year, reduce GDP by trillions, and cost our economy millions of jobs.” If you like the sound of that, there’s 3,414 other regulations the Obama administration has proposed for this fall that you can look forward to, too.
