Indiana's First Congressional District is filled with rich cultural history.

On May 10, 2011, Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels signed legislation establishing new boundaries for Indiana’s Congressional Districts. This new language was inserted into the Indiana Code on July 1, 2011. Congressman Pete Visclosky now represents the entire counties of Lake and Porter, as well as parts of LaPorte County.

According to the 2010 Census, the new First Congressional District has a total population of approximately 722,224.
