MINNEAPOLIS. – Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN) will hold a rally in Minneapolis on Monday, October 7th, with furloughed federal employees. The Republican government shutdown has already forced the Minnesota National Guard to furlough 1,207 civilian employees. 800,000 Americans working for the federal government are currently furloughed nationwide.
Rep. Ellison appeared on MSNBC'S The Last Word last night as House Republicans forced a government shutdown."These people have mortgages, they've got bills to pay, they've got rent to pay, they've got tuition to pay, they've got groceries to buy--this is unconscionable, Rep Ellison said referring to the 800,000 Americans who may be furloughed because of the shutdown.
