Rep. Waxman Statement on Supreme Court Oral Argument on EPA Pollution Rules

Dec 10, 2013

Today Energy and Commerce Committee Ranking Member Henry A. Waxman released the following statement on the oral arguments before the Supreme Court on the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) cross-state air pollution rule:

“Air pollution doesn’t recognize state boundaries, so it is essential that EPA have the authority to enforce the Clean Air Act’s good neighbor rule, which requires upwind states to curb pollution that blows into downwind ones.  EPA adopted a reasonable approach, which the Supreme Court should uphold.  All Americans deserve the right to breathe clean air, not just those who live in upwind states.”
