Congresswoman Beatty along with her colleauges from the Congressional Black Caucus Taskforce on Poverty and the Economy held a press conference to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the War on Poverty speech made by Lyndon B. Johnson. The War on Poverty led to the creation of critical programs like Head Start, Job Corps, Medicare, Medicade and Social Security.

Beatty Stands with Working Families on H.R. 1406
(Washington, D.C.) – Congresswoman Beatty (OH-03) released the following statement regarding the Working Families Flexibility Act, H.R. 1406.
Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-3) voted against the Working Families Flexibility Act, H.R. 1406, due to the devastating effects it would have on working families in the 3rd District of Ohio and across the nation.
Congressman Ryan’s budget is not a Path to Prosperity for our country.
Why?
Because we lose with jobs. His (10-year) budget destroys 2 million American Jobs according to the Economic Policy Institute…
We lose with families and children.
Because, families and children who have income below 200,000 would have to face a tax increase averaging more than $3,000 a year.
We lose with Seniors.
