CONGRESSMAN PITTENGER ARRANGES FOR LOCAL VETERAN TO MEET PRESIDENT OBAMA
CHARLOTTE – Garland Denny, an 83-year-old Navy veteran, is on a personal crusade to increase funding for veterans’ services. Today, in appreciation for his tireless service and dedication, Congressman Robert Pittenger (NC-09) has arranged for Mr. Denny to meet President Barack Obama.
“Mr. Denny is a distinguished and faithful veteran who continues to serve his country and fellow service members at the age of 83!” said Congressman Pittenger. “He has dedicated his retirement years to promoting several “outside-the-box,” creative ideas to increase funding for veterans without increasing the cost and tax burden, wisely recognizing that Washington bureaucrats don’t have all the answers. Mr. Denny is a true patriot, and I am honored to assist Mr. Denny in pursuing his goal.”
One of Mr. Denny’s proposals involves a commemorative postage stamp which would raise money for veterans’ service organizations. Later this week, Congressman Pittenger’s staff is scheduled to meet with Post Office officials and White House staff to discuss how to advance the proposal.
Mr. Denny will meet President Obama today at the Charlotte Convention Center during the America Legion National Convention.
