Terrorism
The threat of terrorism against America has never been greater. Our greatest threat is no longer conventional foreign armies invading our homeland, but unconventional threats in the form of radical terrorist organizations. With the rise of the Islamic State (ISIS) due to President Obama’s precipitous withdrawal from Iraq, we now face the most ruthless, well-funded, well-organized terrorist threat in history. Worst of all, some ISIS members have U.S. passports. At a time when America should be standing strong in the fight against radical Islamists, President Obama has projected weakness on the world stage which has our friends and allies concerned for their security. For a group whose aim is to establish an Islamic caliphate across the Middle East and plant a flag at the White House, they pose a much greater threat than a “JV Team,” as President Obama previously labeled them.
As Chairman of the Congressional Taskforce on Terrorism and Unconventional Warfare, I am actively involved in monitoring current threats against our nation, advising Congressional leadership on action to guard against these threats, and informing ordinary Americans about steps they can take to protect their families and businesses. President Obama’s policies have reduced our military to the lowest level in decades and weakened our ability to confront terrorist organizations. To defeat this grave threat, we must strengthen our military and unite with our allies to share critical intelligence with each other. Only then can we defeat those who seek to do harm to America and our allies.
