A Congressional Field Hearing morphs into a Memorial for the Yarnell 19. It was supposed to be a Congressional Field Hearing about the IRS and the EPA, hosted by Congressman Paul Gosar. But, after the news of the nineteen firefighters that were killed in Yarnell the day before, a Congressional Field Hearing seemed inappropriate somehow.

State Route 89 remains closed due to Yarnell Hill wildfire
A 15-mile stretch of State Route 89 near Yarnell, approximately 80 miles northwest of Phoenix, remains closed due to the Yarnell Hill wildfire, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

Yarnell Hill Fire: Memorials held around Arizona

Thousands around Arizona on Monday mourned the loss of 19 young firefighters who died Sunday battling the Yarnell Hill Fire. About 1,000 residents from Prescott, Chino Valley and the surrounding area filled an auditorium at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University for a memorial hosted by U.S. Rep. Paul Gosar, whose congressional district includes Yarnell. The crowd spilled out onto the the lawn, with many visibly shaken from beginning to end.

19 firefighters killed battling Arizona blaze
Nineteen elite firefighters who died battling a fast-moving wildfire here Sunday in the country's worst wildfire disaster in 80 years have been hailed by President Obama as "heroes."...U.S. Rep. Paul Gosar, R-Ariz, represents the area hit by the wildfire. He said he will join law enforcement in checking on residents in evacuation zones to make sure everyone is accounted for. "This is catastrophic," Gosar told KPNX. "My heart hurts for all the people in Yarnell. It's not a great day to be in Arizona."

The House Republican effort to oust Attorney General Eric Holder has attracted a significant amount of momentum this month. Since the beginning of June, 66 Republicans have signed on to Rep. Paul Gosar’s (R-Ariz.) legislation that calls for Holder’s immediate resignation. Gosar’s resolution now has 122 co-sponsors, more than half of the House GOP conference.
