U.S. Rep. Gary Peters statement on President Obama's speech at the University of Michigan

Peters is taking lead role in preventing student loan interest rates from doubling in July

Washington, D.C. - After attending President Obama's speech at the University of Michigan today, U.S. Rep. Gary Peters issued the following statement:

Today at the University of Michigan, President Obama clearly explained how we can make college more affordable and accessible for all Americans,” said U.S. Rep. Gary Peters. “To help advance President Obama's blueprint to cut the cost of college, I'm taking a lead role in Congress to prevent student loan interest rates from doubling in July.”

Yesterday U.S. Rep. Peters announced that he is taking a leading role to advance a bill in the House that would prevent Stafford student loans from doubling in July. Preventing this increase is a major plank of President Obama’s plan to make higher education more affordable.
