U.S. Rep. Gary Peters Statement on President Obama's Address to the United Nations

Today, Representative Gary Peters issued the following statement applauding the President’s speech at the United Nations.

“I am pleased that President Obama reiterated today, before the nations of the world, that the United States will do what we must to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.  Preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon is essential to the national security of the United States, the future of the State of Israel, and the stability of the Middle East.

President Obama made it clear today that the United States will lead to ensure security in the Middle East, including self determination for those who seek freedom and support for those who seek peace.

I am glad that the White House strongly denounced Iran President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s incendiary comments about the State of Israel lacking roots in the Middle East as ‘disgusting, offensive and outrageous.’  The President’s speech today clearly showed that he believes that Israel’s security is non-negotiable and a linchpin for the future of the region.”
