Detroit - U.S. Rep. Gary Peters issued the following statement in honor of Martin Luther King Day:

“Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. left our world better than he found it. He committed his life to freedom and peace and imagined a nation where all were equal, in justice and in opportunity. We remember his remarkable life and the even more extraordinary impact he had on our nation. Dr. King knew that, ‘injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.’ In his honor, we must recommit ourselves to his vision, here in Greater Detroit and across our nation.”

Rep. Peters will be honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day by attending several events in the Greater Detroit area.
