U.S. Rep. Gary Peters Announces $76,000 Grant to Support Firefighters in Grosse Pointe Park

Homeland Security Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) will help protect the public and first responders

Grosse Pointe Park, MI - Today U.S. Rep. Gary Peters announced a $76,116 grant to the Grosse Pointe Park Department of Public Safety as part of the Department of Homeland Security’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) program. This important investment will help ensure that our firefighters are outfitted with the best equipment possible to execute their important work in the community.

“I’m proud to announce over $76,000 in federal funding to support hard working firefighters in the Grosse Pointe Park area,” said U.S. Rep. Gary Peters. “Our first responders put their lives on the line every day to protect our families, that's why it's so important to ensure that they are equipped and ready to handle any emergency. By making an investment to improve safety in our community, we’re securing a brighter future for our region.”

The primary goal of the Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) is to meet the firefighting and emergency response needs of fire departments and nonaffiliated emergency medical service organizations. Since 2001, AFG has helped firefighters and other first responders obtain critically needed equipment, protective gear, emergency vehicles, training and other resources needed to protect the public and emergency personnel from fire and related hazards.
