Statement from Rep. Gary Peters on the retirement of Rep. Barney Frank

Washington, D.C. - Following today's news that Rep. Barney Frank will retire at the end of 2012, Rep. Gary Peters issued the following statement:

Michiganders have been fortunate to have Congressman Frank as an ally in reforming Wall Street, fighting for the middle class, and supporting the American auto industry.  Thanks to the efforts of Barney Frank, the American auto industry is again making profits and adding jobs and because of his leadership, we have common sense Wall Street reforms to prevent future bailouts and protect consumers.  I am proud to have worked closely with Barney Frank on these accomplishments and I will miss his leadership.”

Rep. Peters serves on the House Financial Services Committee which Rep. Frank chaired from January 2007 - January 2011. Rep. Frank currently serves as the Ranking Member on the Committee.
