Meryl Davis and Charlie White Win Silver in Ice Dancing Free Skate
Washington, D.C. – Following Monday’s Olympic Ice Dancing Free Skate, Congressman Gary Peters, who represents Ice Dancers Meryl Davis and Charlie White in Congress, issued the following statement:
“My sincere congratulations to Meryl Davis and Charlie White on winning the silver and making their home towns and home state extremely happy,” said Congressman Peters. “I’ll admit I don’t know much about the technical scoring of their sport, but I know their performance was absolutely remarkable to watch. They should be proud of the hard work and perseverance that went into creating such an outstanding performance on the world stage. I know we in Oakland County certainly are.”
Davis of West Bloomfield and White from Bloomfield Hills finished as the top American team and second overall with a score of 108.55. They were the third American pair to medal in the Ice Dancing event since its addition to Olympic competition in 1976, and the second Americans ever to earn a silver medal.
