West Bloomfield, MI – Today after it was announced that Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit had been released by his captors, Rep. Gary Peters issued the following statement:

“For over five years since his kidnapping, the family of Gilad Shalit, Israelis and friends of Israel have prayed for his safe release.  Israel's resolve to free Shalit is true to the teaching that to save one life is equivalent to saving the entire world. Today we join his family in celebrating Gilad Shalit’s release and give thanks for his safety.”
