PETERS STATEMENT ON CHINESE GREEN TECHNOLOGY INVESTIGATION

(Troy, MI) – Congressman Gary Peters issued the following statement regarding the decision by the United States Trade Representative to initiate an investigation into Chinese government policies affecting trade and investment in green technology.  On September 28, 2010, Peters joined a bipartisan group of 181 members of congress to send the attached letter calling for this investigation.

“Michigan has the manufacturing and engineering know how to lead the world in green energy technology, which is why we cannot afford to sit on our hands while China tilts the playing field in their favor with unfair trade practices,” said Rep. Peters.  “It’s past time to crack down on overseas competitors, holding them accountable to the same rules that U.S. manufacturers play by.”
