Peters Statement on Bipartisan Deal to Improve Veterans Health Care

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Representative Gary Peters (MI-14) released the following statement on the bipartisan compromise between House and Senate negotiators to provide emergency funding to the Veterans Health Administration to open new facilities, hire medical professionals and help veterans receive VA or outside care without long wait times. His statement follows:

“Our nation’s veterans served with honor, sacrificing so much to keep Americans safe, and they deserve access to the highest quality health care and benefits right when they need it. The Veterans Health Administration has failed to meet this most basic responsibility, and has lost the trust of the veterans it serves and the American people. While this emergency funding is a step toward providing the care our veterans need and deserve, Congress must pass critical reforms that will hold the VA accountable, ensure this new funding is directly improving veterans care and increase transparency to ensure this kind of negligence never happens again.”
