Peters Condemns Terrorist Attacks Against Israel

Bloomfield Township, MI – Representative Gary Peters issued a strong condemnation of the recent terrorist attacks in Southern Israel which killed six Israeli civilians and two Israeli soldiers.  Dozens more were injured in the attacks.

"I am outraged at the terrorist attacks committed in southern Israel and I join the Israeli people in mourning their loss.  Acts of terrorism and intimidation must end and those that committed them should know the United States will remain steadfast in our support of our friend and ally Israel,” said Rep. Gary Peters.

Peters has been a leading voice in Congress calling for support for Israel. He traveled to Israel in 2009 shortly after taking office to meet with Israeli leaders and discuss economic and security cooperation. In the aftermath of the flotilla incident in 2010, Peters led the bipartisan effort to affirm Israel’s right to self defense, authoring a letter of support signed by 338 members of Congress.

In February of this year, Peters joined Rep. Bob Dold (R-IL) in a bipartisan letter to House leaders, calling for Congress to maintain American security assistance to Israel.
