Local Small Businesses Now Have a Stronger Voice in Congress
Peters to Kick-Off Small Business Listening Tour at Tech Company in Orion Township

Troy, MI - Small businesses in Oakland County will have an even stronger voice in Congress this year, thanks to Representative Gary Peters’ new seat on the House Small Business Committee. On Tuesday, Rep. Peters will kick off a small business listening tour with a visit to Scate Technologies, a software development firm in Orion Township.

The best ideas to help small businesses don’t come from Washington, they come from small businesses here in Oakland County who are dealing with these challenges every day. As a member of the Small Business Committee, I want to hear directly from local firms about what they need to grow and create jobs,” said Rep. Gary Peters.

The visit marks the start of a week focused on small businesses across Oakland County, including a Congress At Your Company meeting with employees Climate Technologies in Farmington Hills and events with the Rochester and Pontiac Chambers of Commerce.

Rep. Peters joined the House Small Business Committee this year – a new position which will enable him to continue fighting to help local small businesses gain access to the capital they need.

Since first being elected to represent Oakland County in 2008, Rep. Peters has made small businesses a top priority. His first small business listening tour in 2009 led to the creation of a new small business lending initiative in Michigan that has already resulted in millions in new investment for the state. Peters also helped to write the Small Business Jobs Act, and played a key role in supporting tax cuts to help small businesses cope with the recession.
