Milwaukee, WI – Today, Congresswoman Gwen Moore (WI-4) released this statement in response to a federal judge ruling that Wisconsin’s same-sex marriage ban is unconstitutional. 

 

“Today I join my lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) friends in Wisconsin and across the nation as we celebrate a profound victory towards giving the LGBT community the fairness they have long deserved. No one should be barred from marriage due to sexual orientation or gender identity. This is a great day in Wisconsin history, as we have officially declared that love is love.

 

“While we celebrate, we must remember that today is but one step in our journey towards ensuring all people are treated fairly under the law and are afforded equal rights and opportunities. I urge everyone to use this moment as a launching pad to reinvigorate our fight for justice and equality.”
