Congresswoman Beatty Supports Bills Aimed to Help Veterans

(Washington, DC) – On Monday, October 28, 2013, the House of Representatives considered and passed five bills aimed at assisting veterans.  Congresswoman Joyce Beatty supported all five measures that are designed to help veterans receive benefits in a timelier manner.

The following bills were agreed to by the House of Representatives on Monday afternoon: H.R. 1742, the Vulnerable Veterans Housing Reform Act; H.R. 2189, Address Backlog of VA Disability Claims; H.R. 2481: Veterans Economic Opportunity Act, H.R. 1405, Modify VA Fiduciary Program and VA Claims Administration, and H.R. 2011: Veterans’ Advisory Committee on Education Improvement Act.

These bills would provide assistance to veterans in the area of housing, educational assistance, processing disability claims, and appealing unfavorable decisions by the VA.

Rep. Beatty, who considers veterans’ issues to be among her top constituent priorities, was supportive of each of the five pieces of legislation.

“Congress has an obligation to stand-up for the men and women who have served and protected our great nation.    We must continue to work together to ensure our veterans receive their earned benefits on time and have access to resources which will provide them opportunities as they transition back to civilian life.  I am proud to stand with my colleagues in supporting our nation’s veterans.”
