OLSON VOTES FOR TRANSPARENCY IN OBAMACARE ENROLLMENT

Washington, DC - Rep. Pete Olson (TX-22) today voted to provide more transparency regarding the Obamacare enrollment data. H.R. 3362, theExchange Information Disclosure Act, requires the Obama Administration to provide the American public and Congress weekly reports which detail the performance of healthcare.gov, the federal website that manages enrollment in the health exchanges. The report requirements include data that will provide critical information to help lawmakers access the status of Obamacare and ensure Americans know what is happening with their healthcare coverage. The bill passed in the House by a vote of 259 – 154.

“This bill will ensure transparency and provide critical information on how many people have actually obtained health coverage, what's working and what isn't, and how much it is costing the taxpayers. The weekly reports will hold this Administration accountable by demanding useful information on its $2 trillion taxpayer-funded program. Americans have a right to know how Obamacare affects their healthcare coverage, and this bill will help us track how the health law impacts America,” Rep. Olson said.

H.R. 3362 will provide important metrics about healthcare.gov through the required weekly reports from the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). These metrics include a state-by-state breakdown of unique website visits, accounts created, number of individuals who successfully enroll in a qualified health plan or Medicaid, a detailed description of problems identified with website functionality, actions taken to address those problems and a list of all navigators and certified application counselors that have been trained and certified by the exchanges.
