OLSON: MORE OF THE SAME FROM POTUS

Washington, DC– Rep. Pete Olson (TX-22) tonight issued the following statement in response to President Obama's State of the Union address:

"Tonight's speech was more of the same rhetoric we have heard for the last five years. While the President continues to talk, Americans continue to suffer. Instead of working with Congress, the President is trying to force his own go-it-alone agenda on the American people through executive order. His agenda over regulates, spends too much taxpayer money and causes hardship for hard-working Americans.

"How can we trust someone who continues to break his promises? He promised we could keep our doctor and our health plan; we can’t. He promised families would save an average of $2,500 per year on their healthcare premiums; they won’t. All the advertising for Obamacare cannot disguise the fact that his healthcare overhaul is bad for America. The fundamental question is this: Are Americans better off since President Obama took office? Sadly, the answer is no.

"The President basically signaled that the last five years have been an abject failure and he has no idea how to make things better. He certainly does not know how to work with Congress to grow jobs, strengthen our economy and improve the economic circumstances of all Americans."
