OLSON, CRUZ & COLLEAGUES URGE SENATE TO PASS HOUSE BORDER BILL

Washington, DC -Rep. Pete Olson (TX-22) today joined Senator Ted Cruz and House and Senate Republicans to urge Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to pass the House border bill to address the growing border crisis in Texas.

"We passed a strong border bill in the House last month to stop President Obama's defacto amnesty plan, the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), which has caused a flood of immigrants to illegally cross our Southern border," Rep. Olson said. "It also helps Texas deal with this crisis by increasing border security and authorizing federal dollars for the National Guard on the border. The bill also amends a 2008 human trafficking law to speed up the deportation process without releasing detainees under a future promise to return.

"This bill ensures that the current crisis will be stopped by amending the law and shutting down the president's unconstitutional policies that have caused this crisis on our Texas border. I urge the Senate to act to pass this bill immediately. I will continue every effort to secure our borders and block President Obama's executive amnesty plan," Olson added.
