OLSON STATEMENT ON 9/11

Washington, DC - Rep. Pete Olson (TX-22) issued the following statement today in remembrance of the lives we lost on September 11, 2001 and September 11, 2012:

"Today, as America remembers the men, women and children who were taken from us too soon on a clear September morning twelve years ago, we renew our resolve to never succumb to  the fear the terrorists tried to drive into the heart of our nation, and to combat that evil threat wherever it dwells. These acts of cowardice shook our nation to its very core, but they also brought out the very best in America. Thanks to the bravery of our first responders and ordinary Americans who became extraordinary heroes, and the faith and resolve of our nation, we mourned, we fought back and we continue to live our lives in the America that we love. This is a nation that still exists on the promise of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

"We also remember the four Americans, including our ambassador to Libya – Ambassador Chris Stevens, information officer Sean Smith, and former Navy SEALs Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty - who were killed one year ago today in Benghazi, in service to our country overseas. These acts strengthen our steadfastness and remind us of the resiliency of Americans, but they also test us. We still need answers on what happened in Benghazi and we cannot forget the nearly 3,000 Americans who were killed by terrorists.  We must honor their memory by moving forward, but never forgetting."
