Congressman Marino Elected NATO Parliamentary Assembly Vice President

The Hague, Netherlands—Congressman Tom Marino, PA-10, Lycoming County was unanimously elected Vice President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly (NATO PA) today during the NATO PA Annual Session 2014. The session is the largest interparliamentary event in more than a decade with a robust agenda of important issues like trade agreements, Russian aggression in Eastern Europe, energy production and world hunger.

Congressman Marino said the following of the NATO PA and his new leadership role:

“First, I want to thank my friend and colleague, Congressman Mike Turner from the great state of Ohio on his election to President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly. He is an excellent choice to lead this body of our counterparts and I am extremely encouraged to work with him in the coming year.

I also want to acknowledge and congratulate the other Vice Presidents of the NATO PA. Lord Jopling from the UK, Paolo Alli of Italy, Angelien Eijsink of the Netherlands, and Gabriel Vlase from Romania are all leaders who share my dedication and interest in ensuring NATO remains a strong voice in international affairs.

This body is of critical importance and there are many challenging issues ahead of us. From the Russian dilemma to security agreements, my counterparts and I are optimistic about the NATO PA’s ability to traverse obstacles, generate consensus and exert influence within critical foreign policy debates.”
