McCarthy: Regulations Hinder Job Creation & Energy Security

Jun 22, 2011
Press Release

Washington D.C. – Congressman Kevin McCarthy released the follow statement in support of the Jobs & Energy Permitting Act (H.R. 2021), a bill that will help create jobs, secure our energy future and lower energy costs.

"Over the last month unemployment has increased and energy costs have skyrocketed. The Jobs & Energy Permitting Act is a common-sense bill that creates jobs, increases our domestic energy production and supply and will lead us to a more secure energy future.

"Currently, energy production in Alaska is tied down by burdensome and restrictive regulatory policies of this Administration. By removing Washington's red tape and streamlining the permitting process, this legislation could increase domestic energy production by one million barrels of oil a day. In addition, it would also provide a long-term boost to our economy by creating an estimated 54,000 American jobs and $100 billion in payroll over the next 50 years. The onus is now on Senate Democrats; produce common-sense energy policy and frankly a common-sense idea to foster American job creation."
