Statement by Congresswoman Ellmers on the Death of Osama Bin Laden
May 2 2011WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Renee Ellmers released the following statement from her office in Washington this morning:
"Nearly a decade ago on a beautiful September morning, our nation witnessed the worst in human terror as over 3,000 men, women, and children were murdered in cold blood. But that day also showed the greatness that is the American spirit and how our resolve will never falter. Last night we learned that at long last, justice has been served and Osama Bin Laden will never again harm another innocent victim of his violent ideology. As we celebrate this victory for freedom over terror, we must remain vigilant and never let down our guard, even as it has suffered a crushing defeat. The men and women of our armed forces, intelligence community, and their families have worked valiantly throughout this long battle and deserve our praise. I commend President Obama for bringing Bin Laden to justice and would like to thank former President Bush for his long standing commitment and resolve. I join all Americans in celebrating this day of victory over terrorism."
