Ellmers Statement on the 10th Anniversary of 9/11

WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Renee Ellmers released the following statement from her office in Washington this morning:

"Ten years ago today, on a beautiful September morning, our nation witnessed the worst in human terror as over 3,000 men women and children were murdered in cold blood. The pain, sadness, fear, and sorrow are as vivid today as they were one decade ago. But as we watched in collective shock the evil unfolding on our own soil, we also experienced our finest hour as one nation united in our resolve and compassion. The real American heroes wielded fire axes and oxygen tanks, stormed a cockpit with the battle cry 'let's roll,' and stood in lines across the country to give blood even though they felt helpless an entire continent away. America lost so many of its citizens in a sudden act of cowardice and evil, but it also gained a new resolve and value to the freedoms that were never free."

"Today, on this the tenth anniversary of September 11, 2001 let us take time to grieve for those we lost, pray for the struggles at hand, and return to the unity that makes us one nation proud and strong."

 "We will never forget."
