Ellmers Statement on Susan G. Komen Foundation Decision to Cut Ties to Planned Parenthood

WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Renee Ellmers released the following statement from her office in Washington this morning:

"I was very pleased to see the announcement by the Susan G. Komen Foundation, declaring their decision to cut ties with Planned Parenthood. The Komen Foundation has a proud tradition of providing care, treatment, and research for women facing incurable diseases - particularly breast cancer."

"This decision shows their dedication to important and meaningful healthcare initiatives and speaks volumes for the lack of productive services coming out of Planned Parenthood. I hope other contributors, particularly the U.S. government, follow the Komen Foundation's example and end taxpayer funding for organizations that defile the sanctity of life."

In July, Congresswoman Ellmers hosted a press conference with Congressman Randy Hultgren following a report published by Americans United for Life that detailed extent of Planned Parenthood's involvement in providing abortions while receiving taxpayer funding.
