Ellmers: President is Playing Games with People's Health
November 14 2013WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Renee Ellmers (R-NC-02) released the following statement after President Obama's announced plan to allow Americans to keep their health insurance:
"The jig is up. Millions of Americans are receiving cancellation notices and losing their healthcare because President Obama failed to keep his promise. This afternoon, President Obama made another promise that he knows will not come true. The president announced that he will allow insurance companies to let people keep their insurance for another year, yet the law cannot be changed through an executive order. This is a political maneuver to buy time and conceal the damage that this flawed law continues to inflict. Obamacare is a failure and the American people are left paying the price. I will continue to work tirelessly to repeal and replace this terrible law with patient-centered solutions that will not bankrupt our healthcare system and the people whose lives are hanging in the balance."
ABC 11 WTVD reported yesterday that, to date, only 1,662 people in North Carolina have signed up on the Obamacare exchanges. Yet to date, 160,000 people across the state have received cancellation notices for their health insurance, after receiving repeated assurances from President Obama that they could keep their healthcare.
