Ellmers Calls for Action Following Planned Parenthood Report

At Press Conference, Ellmers Highlights Shocking New Figures on Organization's
Use of Taxpayer Funds for Dramatic Increase in Abortions

WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Renee Ellmers released the following statement after her press conference with Members of Congress this morning:

"This afternoon, Congressman Hultgren and I spoke with several of our colleagues to call for hearings and an investigation of the nation’s largest abortion provider, Planned Parenthood, which receives more than $1 million a day in taxpayer funds. In light of our current fiscal crisis and economic uncertainty, Americans should be appalled at the fact that their money is being used to fund abortions, and on such a massive scale."

"The report unveiled by Americans United for Life (AUL) details some very troubling news of systemic financial irregularity within Planned Parenthood, which I believe lays the foundation for further inquiry. We must stand together and protect life in every form and that is why I am here today and calling for an investigation into the findings uncovered by AUL."

This afternoon, Congresswoman Ellmers co-hosted a press conference with Congressman Hultgren to speak on recent findings by Americans United for Life that expose troubling new revelations from scandal-ridden, heavily-subsidized abortion provider Planned Parenthood.  She was joined by Congresswomen Diane Black and Jean Schmidt as well as Congressmen Randy Hultgren, Chris Smith, Bill Huizenga, Steve Chabot and John Fleming.
