Internships

Interns in Congressman Tierney’s office are college students and high school seniors who gain valuable experience by working part or full time in either the Washington, DC, Peabody or Lynn offices. These students are immersed in all aspects of the office, including constituent service, correspondence and research. Accordingly, interns are expected to have strong communications skills, be organized and work well in a team environment.

Congressman Tierney’s office accepts interns for the Spring, Summer and Fall semesters each year. Preference is given to residents of the Sixth District or those attending colleges or universities within the District. All positions are unpaid, though many interns are eligible to receive academic credit from their college or university for their work. Although responsible for securing their own housing, the office can provide information for summer intern housing options in the Washington, D.C. area.

The number and nature of intern positions will be set based upon the needs of the Washington, DC, Peabody or Lynn offices. Interns should be prepared to work a minimum of 16 hours a week.

Applications are received on a rolling basis.
