Statement from Rep. Maloney on Traffic Death at 93rd Street and Second Avenue

NEW YORK, NY – Upon learning of the horrific traffic death of a woman who was hit by a school bus full of children while crossing the street at 93rd Street and Second Avenue today, a block from her district office, Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney (NY-12) released the following statement:

“This is a horrible, horrible tragedy. My thoughts and prayers go out to the victim’s family and friends, and to the children who were on the bus.

“While police investigate this crash, this is yet another tragic reminder that we need to do more to make our streets safer.  

“You should not have to take your life into your hands when you cross the street.”
