WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney (NY-12) today released the following statement on the retirement of Metropolitan Museum of Art President Emily Rafferty.

“Emily Rafferty has been an extraordinary leader of the Metropolitan Museum, the first home-grown President and the first woman. During her tenure, the number of visitors has continued to grow, new wings have opened and blockbuster shows have given us a greater understanding of major artists. After nearly four decades at the Museum, she has truly left her mark. We will miss her steady leadership and deep understanding of the Museum, the City and the art world.”
