New York, NY – Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) today highlighted new data that show that a total of 8,100 seniors in her 14th Congressional District will receive $250 ‘donut hole’ checks in 2010 as part of the new Health Care Reform law signed by President Obama. The checks are meant to begin the process of closing the Medicare prescription drug coverage gap that occurs when annual drug expenditures exceed $2,830 for any recipient of Medicare Part “D” coverage.
"These first reforms will start the process of holding insurance companies accountable, lowering overall health care costs for families, and guaranteeing more health care choices for New Yorkers and all Americans," Rep. Maloney said. "These are important changes that will make a real, practical difference and improve people's lives, starting today.”
Madam Speaker,
I rise in support of HR 3962 which will protect patient access to their doctors and prevent a 21 percent cut in Medicare payments to doctors, boosts physician payments by 2.2 percent through November 30.
Washington, D.C. – Today, Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-Manhattan, Queens) urged eligible New York small businesses to take advantage a substantial new health care tax credit available this year, thanks to the health care reform bill approved by Congress and signed into law by President Obama. Small businesses that provide -or begin providing- health care to their employees, have fewer than 25 workers, and have less than $50,000 in average annual wages per employee are eligible for the credit. The maximum credit available under the new law is equal to 35% of employers’ health care costs – with the maximum amount rising to 50% by 2014.
WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) today issued this statement on the historic health care reform package passed by the House.
“This approval of health care reform—after decades of trying—is historic, and I’m proud to have been part of the Majority approving it under Speaker Pelosi’s tenacious leadership and President Obama’s dedication.
Madam Speaker,
This is an historic vote.
