House Republicans Vote to Fund Critical Government Operations

Oct 2, 2013
Press Release

Washington, D.C. – Today, the House voted on legislation that would fund critical operations in the Federal government. Congressman Randy Weber (R-Friendswood) issued the following statement:

“Last night, House Democrats put party politics ahead of people by voting against three key pieces of legislation that would help fund portions of the government. Their unconscionable votes prove that President Obama and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid are still pulling the puppet strings of obstruction. Fortunately, House Republicans were successful in passing legislation, this evening, that would fund operations to keep our national parks and museums open, and authorize critical funding for medical research.

House Republicans have made every effort to meet with our counterparts in the Senate. We have provided three Continuing Resolutions, requested a conference to discuss a solution and now, have offered specific appropriations bills to re-open the government. It is way past time for the President and Senator Reid to come out from behind their “non-negotiable” talking points and get back to the People’s work.”
