Secretary Geithner Testifies Before Ways and Means Committee
Treasury Secretary Defends President’s Proposal to ContinueWasteful Spending and Record Deficits

Washington, D.C. – Representative Erik Paulsen (MN-03) released the following statement today in response to Treasury Secretary Geithner’s testimony at the House Committee on Ways and Means hearing regarding the President’s FY 2012 budget:

“Secretary Geithner’s testimony today affirmed the Administration’s disconnect with American families and small businesses,” said Rep. Paulsen. “As they continue to tighten their belts, the President presented us with a budget that projects out-of-control spending, out-of-touch tax policies and a record $1.6 trillion deficit for the next fiscal year. We need to cut up the credit card and implement common-sense, pro-growth policies families and job creators need.”

Paulsen, a champion of small business and advocate of free enterprise, entrepreneurship, and innovation currently serves on the House Ways and Means Committee, and is co-chair of the Congressional Korea-U.S. Free Trade Working Group and co-chair of the House Medical Technology Caucus.
