Paulsen Votes Against Raising Debt Ceiling by $2.4 Trillion

"Cutting Spending Needs to Be Top Priority"

Washington, D.C. – Rep. Erik Paulsen (MN-03) released the following statement after voting this evening against raising the nation’s debt ceiling:

“Our country is in a spending-driven debt crisis and it is irresponsible to borrow and spend another $2.4 trillion without a plan to cut wasteful Washington spending,” said Paulsen.  “Families in Minnesota and across America deserve accountability from their government.  I am committed to, and will continue to work toward, securing a bright financial future for our children and grandchildren.”

Paulsen, a champion of small business and advocate of free enterprise, entrepreneurship, and innovation currently serves on the House Ways and Means Committee, and is co-chair of the Congressional Korea-U.S. Free Trade Working Group and co-chair of the House Medical Technology Caucus.
