Paulsen to Hold District-Wide Tour of Women-Owned Businesses

"Women Owned Business Day" Includes Stops in Maple Grove, Plymouth, Hamel and Eden Prairie

Eden Prairie, MN – On Wednesday, October 19, Rep. Erik Paulsen (MN-03) will be touring the district to highlight several women-owned businesses and encourage more women to become entrepreneurs.  Earlier this year, the American Express OPEN State of Women-Owned Businesses report found that Minnesota ranks 44th out of 50 states in growth of women-owned businesses. According to the report, Minnesota is estimated to have 138,000 women-owned businesses with $19.6 billion in sales in 2011. A copy of the report can be read here.

“Minnesota is a great state teeming with endless possibilities, however we need to be doing more to encourage women to take the leap into entrepreneurship,” said Rep. Paulsen. “My hope is that this week’s tour will help inspire women to realize their dream of running their own businesses. After all, small businesses are going to be the growth engine that drives the economic recovery.”
