Though the news would take two days to reach Minnesota by telegraph and steamboat, it created hope, optimism and excitement among the new residents of Minnesota.  On this Statehood Day, we Minnesotans can be proud that our state has grown to become one of the best in our nation – leading the way in everything from education to health care to quality of life.”
