Paulsen Statement on June Jobs Report

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Erik Paulsen (MN-03), a member of the tax-writing Ways and Means Committee, issued the following statement regarding the unemployment report released by the U.S. Department of Labor this morning.

“Today’s unemployment numbers show just how fragile our economy truly is. While some in Washington proclaimed that spending trillions of dollars would stimulate the economy, the reality has set in and many Minnesota families are still suffering the consequences,” said Congressman Paulsen. “Unemployment has now stayed above 8%  for a staggering 29 months in a row – rising to 9.2% in June, the highest level this year. In order to put people back to work, and create true economic recovery, we must create an environment for job creators to start hiring again. I urge the President and Congress to work together to implement common sense, pro growth, economic policies to create that environment of true economic and jobs growth.”

This morning, Congressman Paulsen delivered floor remarks on the economy, and how common sense, pro-growth, policies can put our country on a path to true economic recovery. View remarks here.

Paulsen, a champion of small business and advocate of free enterprise, entrepreneurship, and innovation currently serves on the House Ways and Means Committee, and is co-chair of the Congressional Korea-U.S. Free Trade Working Group and co-chair of the House Medical Technology Caucus.
