Paulsen Statement on Invitation for Canada to Join Trans-Pacific Partnership

Washington, D.C. – Representative Erik Paulsen (MN-03), member of the House Ways and Means Committee, today issued the following statements in response to the announcement of the invitation for Canada to join the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) negotiations:

“It has been an important week for Minnesota and American trade. I am pleased with the news that Canada has been invited to join the TPP talks. Our neighbor to the north serves as Minnesota’s largest export destination with $5 billion in annual exports. Canada’s participation in the TPP negotiations is a positive step forward, and will benefit Minnesota workers and job creators.”

Paulsen, a champion of small business and advocate of free enterprise, entrepreneurship, and innovation, currently serves on the House Ways and Means Committee. He is co-chair of the Congressional Medical Technology Caucus and the U.S.–Korea Free Trade Working Group.
