Paulsen Praises Passage of STOCK Act

Washington, D.C. –  Representative Erik Paulsen (MN-03) today voted in favor of the Stop Trading on Congressional Knowledge Act, or STOCK Act, which passed the House by a vote of 417 to 2. The legislation, which Rep. Paulsen co-sponsored, would prohibit members of Congress and their staffs from using non-public information for personal benefit.

“It is unacceptable for any member of Congress to use non-public information for their own financial benefit,” said Rep. Paulsen. “The American people should be able to trust that their elected officials aren’t using their positions for profit in any way, and abiding by the same rules as they are. The increased transparency and accountability in this legislation is an important step towards restoring the public’s trust in the federal government.”

Paulsen, a champion of small business and advocate of free enterprise, entrepreneurship, and innovation currently serves on the House Ways and Means Committee, and is co-chair of the Congressional Medical Technology Caucus, as well as the U.S.–Korea Free Trade Working Group.
