Paulsen Named “Guardian of Small Business” by The National Federation of Independent Business

Recognized for his work on behalf of America’s small business job creators

Washington, D.C. – Representative Erik Paulsen (MN-03) today was awarded the coveted Guardian of Small Business Award from the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), one of our nation’s leading small business associations. Rep. Paulsen received the award for his steadfast work in promoting American small business job creation and economic growth. In all, the NFIB presented Guardian awards to 245 Representatives who voted favorably on key small business issues at least 70% of the time during the 112th Congress.  Paulsen was recognized for his bill to repeal the new tax on American medical innovation which passed the House of Representatives in June.   In a 2010 NFIB member ballot, 93% of the NFIB job creators agreed that Congress should repeal the tax.

“I am honored to receive this award for supporting the life-blood of our economy - small businesses,” said Rep. Paulsen. “Our nation’s small businesses have historically lead the way in economic recovery and I am committed to working bipartisanly to ensure they continue that trend as we work to promote job creation and economic growth.”

NFIB President and CEO Dan Danner (pictured above) praised Rep. Paulsen for “standing for small business.” In presenting the organization’s coveted Guardian of Small Business Award, Danner said, “The record shows that Rep. Paulsen is a true champion of small business, having stood strong on the key small-business votes in the 112th Congress,” said Danner. “This award reflects our members’ appreciation for supporting the NFIB pro-growth agenda for small business.”

Paulsen, a champion of small business and advocate of free enterprise, entrepreneurship, and innovation, currently serves on the House Ways and Means Committee and is co-chair of the Congressional Medical Technology Caucus.
